1. Content. You need a killer content. Think of doing link baits — the type of content that may be provocative, funny, highly useful, list types, etc. That people will want to share on their own and link without you even asking for the link

2. Get all the good SEO plugins http://mashable.com/2009/03/20/wordpress-seo-plugins/ — for example, All in One SEO plugin and use that to ensure your blog has the right canonical tags and that you use it to create SEO-optimized titles of your blog posts. There are a number of SEO plugins there so compare the features (Headspace 2, Platinum SEO, etc).

Other must have plugins include

- Google XML sitemap plugin – be sure to create a GWT account (Google Webmaster Tool), verify your site and then submit the sitemap
- use an analytics plugin such as Google Analyticator for your Google Analytics account (you need a web tracking software to let you know your progress in marketing your blog)
- SEO Friendly Images plugin if you have loads of images on your site, to help you optimize for Google Images

3. Integrate social sharing on your site. Make it easy for users to share your content. There are loads of plugins that allow you to show the Twitter, Facebook Like, Google +1 buttons, Stumbleupon, etc. On your site.

4. Use Feedburner for your feeds so you can track subscribers. Submit your feed to directories, such as Technorati (though they are harder to crack and takes a long time in evaluating sites). Look at resources for marketing blogs here http://www.powerhomebiz.com/onlinemarketing/blogs.htm

Going to other blogs commenting and spamming them (err, leaving your link) is not working anymore. A better alternative is to approach big blogs in your area (or even other areas) and approach them if you could submit an exclusive guest post for free, provided they leave your links intact and they do not “no follow” the links

Thomas asks…

Is it difficult to get theme-related or one-way backlinks?

Hello everyone!

I am trying to get theme-related or one-way backlinks of my gaming blog to other high PR sites and blogs. I contact their webmasters and still waiting for their reply, but some of them replied to me but they’re not participating in the link exchange offer. I also finding difficulty on which I can trade them with unique published articles or press releases with a linkback to their site which most of them rejected my offer. Right now I only have one person responded to do link exchange with me that is live from a relevant gaming theme site.

I am also hired last time by a client for fashion-related and SEO blogs or sites to link exchange with them, but only 20% of the webmasters that I e-mailed responded back for a link exchange in a three-way, which my client don’t want her blog to have outside links in her sidebar to make it clean, instead she use her other site to put the link of the one who put her link in the site.

What can I do? Are there any other ways to get one-way backlinks from theme related blogs or sites in an easy or fast way, especially if you are only hired to do it? Or is it difficult in normal, because I prefer to do it fast. Does it take a long time? Or there’s another way to make it quick?

I need many and legitimate answers, coz’ I want my gaming blog to increase it’s link popularity in theme-related sites or blogs.

Thank you

If it’s a wordpress blog installed on your own domain name, then I highly suggest the usage of article marketing. It gets you thousands of visitors per month, starting from the first month you use the correct article marketing strategy.

If it’s not a wordpress blog installed on your own domain, then I suggest you get one, use article marketing correctly, and through the author resource box (when submitting articles) link directly to your own related blogpost, and another link to your gaming website.

Article marketing not only gets your website ranking higher, but also gets you ranking on the first pages of search engines for various related keywords without paying for advertising! Plus you’ll be getting targeted customers, meaning they will already be searching to purchase what you have to offer!

Sandra asks…

Do blog posts harm to SERP?

Recently, One of my friend told me that, If I post unique and fresh content on my blogs and get one backlink to a main site, That will harm to my site(in the words of Google). He further said that, Google will sandbox my site if I follow up such a method to get backlinks. Is that true? I suspect that may be a SEO myth. Is it?

Let me know.

Thanks.

Laura asks…

Question about advertising in my blog.?

What are the minimum stats a blog should have so someone will want to advertise there? My blog is www.alotof.co.cc ,I have like 50-70 unique visits a day,i have 10-15 backlinks, but my traffic is growing every day so I will probably have like 150 unique visits a day in a week.I have 7 subscribers. Are these stats enough so someone will want to advertise in my blog? And how much I can charge?I am thinking about 5$ a month, considering to the fact that there are blogs which charge that amouth when they have less unique vists a month ( i saw one where the dude had 750 uniqeus a month and he was charging 5$,but he had 25 subscribers, and his blog was older) Also my blog is 1 and a half months old.(but I had only 10 unique/day before 3-4 days ago when i started seriously and my traffic grew bigger)
Thanks for the answers Aliensexist112
